It is one of the first projects carried out to international level to measure circularity of a product and/or service and was realized by Hera Luce with the collaboration of Marco Capellini’s professional studio.
The project is the new public lighting system realized by Hera Luce for the town of Gabicce Mare where the materials and economic circularity of the resources used was measured.
Through an input-output assessment of all the resources used for the installation, maintenance and disposal phases, the types of resources used (from renewable and non-renewable sources) have been quantified and evaluated, as well as the circularity of the materials used (recycled, permanent recycled and virgins materials). Thanks to economic evaluations, it was possible to identify the improvement actions to be applied to the components of the plant in order to improve the circularity of the plant.
The contribution of the study Capellini was joined to that of Hera Luce engineers and allowed to plan the next project solutions to be pursued.
The professional studio Marco Capellini is among the creators of method to measuring the circularity of products through the development of an evaluation model that takes into account all the major requirements of the Circular economy.
The use of circular materials is the key to meeting the new market demands and for this reason a part of the project was developed in collaboration with MATREC that is a society that works for research of circular materials.
